 Danger's all around us(Freddie)
« Thread Started on Aug 1, 2009, 2:55pm »

It was a clear crisp autmn day. The children were up at hogwarts attending to their studies. It was about one in the afternoon. A dark figure walked down the streets of hogmeades. It was headed towards the hog's head. The mysterious stranger was Tannr Bancroft, He was an ex-death eater who had gotten away with his crimes as death eater. The ministry was really one his tail looking fo rany excuse to throw him in azkaban. He entered the dingy pub. The little door bell rang above him. He jumped slightly, thinking that it was an alarm.

Tanner had every right to be nervous right now. He had just sent at letter to an ex death eater Named Fredrick Avery. Tanner sat in booth farthest from the door way. He pulled his hood over his head and kept an eye on the door. He honestly hoped the the ministry wasn't checking owls. It wasn't that he was concerned about what his letter said, all it basically said was "The honorable Tanner request the presence of Mr. Fredrick Avery at the Hog's Head this afternoon around one p.m."

The one thing Tanner was most concerned about is if the ministry would investigate why two death eaters were getting together. Tanner would explain that they were just having friendly conversation. In reality Tanner was one of the leaders of a new secret organization and he believed they needed a killer and ex deah eater like Fredrick on their side. It would certainly help Tanner as he went to committ murder. Freddie would be the perfect cohort, Especially if he was anything like his father. "I hope Mr. Avery shows soon. I risk alot comming to place like this. I hope he realizes this something important." Tanner muttered under his breath. This place was dirty and dingy that sort of place a respectable person like himself would be caught dead in, but it was the perfect place if you had dark matters to attend to, such as what Tanner had planned today. Now it all depended on Freddie

Frederick sat at the bar; glass in one hand and the other hovering over his wand out of habit, occasionally reassuring himself it was still there with the slightest of touches. He was currently in conversation with one of the other patrons, some Mark Lancaster – apparently he was having a bit of trouble exporting some rather questionable dragon eggs that he’d rather not have his name associated with. As Head of Beast Division at the Ministry, Freddie had the ability to sweep this nasty little business under the carpet for the right amount of Galleons – it would all depend on two factors. How much he would get paid, and whether Freddie would get bored of this man’s tale before Lancaster could convince him to help.

The appearance of yet another shady character in the Hogs Head made Frederick pause in listening to Lancaster’s story and watch the cloaked figures entrance. Why was it everyone wore cloaks and hoods and such a drab attire nowadays. Surely pulling a hood high over your head so it covered your face was just asking for the attention of aurors? Freddie was clothed in a simple yet, as dictated by being a pureblood, traditional dark red robe with a travel cloak thrown over his chair for when the weather turned nasty. One could never be sure how nature would act, and it was always best to be ready, wizard or not. Just as Frederick was about to turn back to Lancaster (and really, Freddie was so very close to cursing the wretched man) the face of the newest addition to the Hogs Head was revealed ever so slightly to him – Tanner Bancroft. So, this was the man Frederick was here to see then? As soon as he’d received the letter Freddie’s paranoia kicked in; he’d got down to some research straight away, finding all he could about Mr Bancroft and his intentions. It really wasn’t too hard to guess what the man wanted with him.

Quickly muttering an excuse to leave to Lancaster, Frederick stood up and followed his new partner in conversation, watching with predatory eyes as he sat down in the furthest corner. Typical.

"I hope Mr. Avery shows soon. I risk alot comming to place like this. I hope he realizes this something important."

This was most definitely Tanner Bancroft, though perhaps the first thing he should learn is how not to give your intentions away by muttering to yourself. There were ears everywhere. “Mr Avery has most certainly shown up” he said loudly, walking to stand next to the table Tanner was occupying by a way of introducing himself. “Though a little irritated at the lateness of the invitation, Mr Bancroft, I have arrived as you requested” Freddie took a seat opposite Tanner, placing his drink before him as he did so. Frederick was never one to go thirsty. “First things first – although custom dictates that he who requested the meeting should be the one to provide refreshments, you would already have noticed I have mine already provided for” motioning over a disgruntled looking server, Frederick smiled shark-like at Tanner, his expression emitting a warmth that’s purpose was to charm. “What can I get you, Mr Bancroft?”

Tanner's gaze looked over the voice that had come from next to his table. This was certainly the man Tanner was looking for, he had the tall impossing stature that would make anyone runaway at the sight of them together. He didn't much like the tone of Fredrick's voice upon mentioning Tanner' lateness. "I apologize for my lateness, the aurors are keeping a close on on me. I would have been here sooner if they hadn't followed me for half block. " Tanner reported. It was true, ever since he wasn't apprehended for his crimes the Aurors were looking for more reason to put him in azkaban.

Tanner smiled at the offer of something to drink. "I think I'll take a firewhisky, have a seat Mr. Avery we buisness to discuss. I think it is buisness that will have you highly interested." Tanner siad in his best buisness like manner. Tanner hoped this meeting went well. He figured that Avery would have done some research on him, just like Tanner some minor research on Fredrick. As Tanner had learned from the death eaters, "know your opponents." Freddie wasn't Tanner's Enemy but, He needed to know almost everything about him. Tanner didn't research his family, Just Freddie. Tanner peeked over at the counter and looked around, He then continued to lower his voice. " Fredrick Avery I have proposition for you, if you're interested." Tanner whispered.

He didn't want prying ears as he tried to enlist the aid of an ex death eater into the ranks of new Murderous group called the Grendel. He knew the Avery's were raised to believe in pureblood superiority. Tanner did want to reveal his half blodd status to Freddie Should he find out the point of this meeting would be moot.

Lancaster was coming over again, obviously interested in whatever had drawn Freddie’s attention away from him. With a frown set deep into his face Freddie slipped his wand from its holster, keeping it hidden under the table as he set a quick confounding charm at the man. Frederick would deal with him later, perhaps when he was in a more unfavourable mood. As much as he would love to teach Lancaster to keep out of others’ business, especially Freddie’s business, there were more important matters to intend to, such as why he had been called so unceremoniously to a very shady looking pub in Hogsmead.

"I apologize for my lateness, the aurors are keeping a close on on me. I would have been here sooner if they hadn't followed me for half block. "

Frederick merely grunted in reply, knowing all too well the problem Aurors caused. He would often see one tailing his own person every month or so, keeping tabs on what he was doing. He had never been branded as a Death Eater, but it was all too common knowledge that the Avery family thought very little of anyone who wasn’t pureblood through and through. Freddie had always been proud of his opinions, but now it appeared they were beginning to turn on him in the most unfortunate of ways. Being influential at the Ministry had its pros though, and after several complaints from Frederick about the invasion of his privacy the number of ‘stalkers’ had reduced considerably. Either that, or they were getting better at hiding from him. At Tanner’s request Freddie sent the server on his way with the order of a Firewhiskey, flicking a bronze coin at the boy (for surley he couldn’t be more than a teenager) in order to hurry him along.

" Fredrick Avery I have proposition for you, if you're interested."

A proposition? Now the man had Freddie’s attention. He lifted his head ever so slightly as he regarded Tanner, trying to remember everything he had learnt about the man thus far. The boy returned with the drink for Tanner, and Frederick shooed him away as he absently handed over money to pay for his purchase. “Whether I am interested or not all depends on the proposition, surely?” he question, sipping his own drink as he regarded the other man from across the table. “Let me hear it, leaving no details out in your story Mr Bancroft, and I shall give you my answer after some careful consideration on my part”.

Tanner smiled at Freddie, He appreciated that freddie cast a confunding charm to rid them of their little eavesdropper. He may of done it under the table but nothing escaped the eye of Tanner. "Nice move getting of your little follower." Tanner muttered. Tanner wished he could get rid of his followers without them thinking he was attacking. The slightest movement made aurors believe he was attacking and then there would be a battle. Tanner watched as a teenager came and served him his drink. He a small sneer, if there were few things he hated it muggles, mudbloods and children. They were dirty and would easily reveal secrets.

Tanner took a sip of the burning amber liquid. it burned going down, but it was the familiar taste he grown accustomed to after the war. "Now back to business, As you are fully aware the dark lord is dead and lot of his followers and etheir hiding or arrested. I've come to tell you that there is a select few of us leftover followers, who hav formed a group to complete the work the dark one set out to do." Tanner continued. He was going to blunt and maybe it peak Freddie's interest and he would join. "We work mostly in the shadows. We used the muggleborn registry that was at the ministry." Tanner said calmly. " I was wondering if you would join our little organization. We could use some with your standing at the ministry. You could help cover up the murders that we commit. You don't have to commit any murders, but you would have some power to cover for us." Tanner asked.

Ah, so here was a follower of their now deceased Dark Lord. Freddie had never taken much of an interest in the work of the Death Eaters – there had never been anything there to suggest he would benefit from any sort of arrangement, so Freddie had tactfully remained on formal terms with them. A supporter, yes, but a fully-fledged member? That had been his father, not Freddie. What Tanner was suggesting interested him though; an organisation working in the shadows? Nothing to implicate Freddie in any messy business and the such, and no silly marks that would identify him as a member before he even had a chance to think up a story. Freddie, as most Purebloods, knew he was superior than others, but he had always maintained that killing all muggleborns was maybe not the best way to go. After all, without the muggleborns, who would be left to take the more undesirable jobs of the wizarding world? Certainly not he.

Freddie nodded slowly, letting the conversation lapse into silence for several moments while he considered this proposition. It would be a gamble and a risk, but maybe one that would pay off. If they managed to refresh the idea of Pureblood supremacy, then it would be Freddie who would profit. “This organisation – does it have a goal? Does it have some idea as to what it would like to have achieved in, say, ten years time?” he asked, wanting to know the long-term plans of this little group. There was no point getting involved, only having to raise your hands and back away after a year or so. That would be a waste of his time. “Most importantly, what are you offering me to join this group? What would I end up gaining, Mr Bancroft?” there was a hint of a smile on his lips now, wanting to put Tanner under as much pressure as possible. “You have to really sell this idea to me”

Tanner just sat there quietly as Freddie grilled Him with questions about the organizations goals and aspirations. He knew freddie would be curios as to how it would benefit him. Then came the comment Tanner was expecting. He had to really sell the idea. Tanner was no stranger to sell stuff. If he was quiet honest with himself he probably sold the averys some of the dark magical items more then likely hidden in their house. Tanner knew how to handle situations with potential clients, as it were.

"I shall answer your first question quite easily. We of the organization plan on purifying the wizarding race of all the mudblood scum out there and give rise to a new pureblood dominated society. I, for one being a realist have come to the realizattion that as long as muggles exsist we will always have the off chance that some is going to gove birth to, do i dare say, a muggleborn. we intend to keep the muggleborns under close supervision and those that happen to be born we might keep only to have them work for the pureblood, but we need to first try and puurify the race." Tanner said calmly in a business like manner. He hoped his explaination hooked freddie even more.
They could use someone like freddie in the ministry to help regulate muggleborns.

Freddie had the family history behind pureblood supremacy. Tanner beled in his owwn mind that he desreved to be a pureblood. He played the part rather well, if anyone ever first met they would think he was another pureblood fanatic just like the malfoy's. unlike the malfoy's however Tanner's belief in pureblood supremacy neverr waivered. Tanner would have gladly compared himself to his belated mentor Bellatrix Lestrange.
She taught him what it meant to stand firm in a belief and defend it to the death. She also taught him not jump head first into situations. That's why Tanner saw some promise in freddie. He seemded to be weighing the pros and con's of the proposal and was make an informed decision. Tanner was in the grendel in memory of his belated mentor. He wanted to make her proud even in death. He wanted to see her dream of a pureblood wizarding world realized.

"As to your second question, What can I offer you to join this organization? The answer simply put is this, i can offer a positon as one of purebloods leaders in a world governed by purebloods. You would never have to lift a finger again. Alll the lesser wizards would do your bidding. You could live like a king among your fellow purebloods." Tanner said hoping those were the right ccombination of words to get Freddie to join the group. Tanner as hoped that Freddie believed Tanner to be a pureblood. He could just pture the grief a new recruitld give him if they found he was a halfblood. he could imagine all the stares and comments on why was a half blood running an organization meant for pureblood wizards. He would be a laughing stock and worse they could turn on him and attack, not that he couldn't hold his own in a fight. Tanner just didn't want to deal with all that hassle or have to deal with his recruits failing to respect him and disobey orders from him.
