Luna Lovegood was unused to having nothing to do schoolwork wise. After all she was a Ravenclaw and she loved to challenge herself with her school work. She always made it a point to take the most challenging classes that she was able to sign up for as she knew that her time here at Hogwarts was preparing her for whatever she was going to be facing out there in the real world after she graduated and, as such, took her classes and her studying very seriously- usually much more than most of the people she knew at school. A lot of them, it felt to Luna, seemed to consider that their time at Hogwarts was no more than a silly joke as they went about their lives and their classes and worried more about having fun than what they were actually at school to do: Study. She detested people who only put forth a partial effort and didn’t take the opportunities and classes that Hogwarts offered seriously enough. She didn’t like people who just did ‘good enough’ when they could have done better. Especially because, not that she held herself in particularly high regard, but the truth was if she, someone who was dyslexic, who had had to double the work of most people to succeed in classes and just to be able to read well and write halfway legibly thanks to letters switching themselves around and mirroring themselves, was able to do well than no one else had an excuse not to at least put in the effort- at least that was her view on it whether fair or not. If she was able to make something of herself and be a success despite such difficulties with her school work than shouldn't others be able to do the same? In fact she had more than overcome it- she now loved to read, something very ironic for a dyslexic girl. She would admit she read a little slower than most people, but it didn't stop her from being able to lose herself in the adventures a book brought which was always her favorite part.
Luna sighed slightly as she moved through the Hogwarts library looking for something to read. For once she had all of her homework caught up, had nowhere to be, no one to meet and a free evening and a free weekend looking out ahead of her. She grinned at the thought of having free time to herself for the first time in a while. Being NEWT year that meant the professors were definitely stepping up the amount of homework that they were expected to be able to comply with and the students, if they wanted to do well on NEWTs just had to go along with it. Luna, for her part, was doing well but a break was always welcomed. After all, eventually working got boring even for someone who was a Ravenclaw. Her proturbent grey eyes shifted through all of the books on the shelf that she was currently looking through. There were so many all of different sizes and colors and with that wonderful bookish smell. At the moment she was hunting for something more pleasurable to peruse than her text books- perhaps a good mystery novel. Luna adored novels, muggle and wizard alike, and had discovered long ago that Hogwarts Library was filled with more than just Wizarding books. There were plenty of muggle ones too thanks to the Muggle Studies classes that required Muggle book reports every month. Being a pureblood, though she was hardly in the elitest circle, she didn't really know much about muggles until she started her time at Hogwarts when she was able to go to school with muggleborns and study, but thanks to taking Muggle Studies and being friends with muggleborns had given her more knowledge and now reading muggle books wasn't confusing.
She got down on her hands and knees, pushing hair aggravatedly out of the way since it was falling in her eyes as she searched through the bottom shelf of books “There!..” She exclaimed, reaching for a book. She had begun reading the Nancy Drew Mystery Series over the summer – She lifted up the book that she had discovered and turned it over to be sure it was the right number as she preferred to read series’ in order. Sure enough, “The Sign of the Twisted Candles..” Number nine. The book featured the amateur girl detective in a green background looking up at a ghostly white twisted candle on a stand. She picked the book up and moved the others back over to fill in the empty place so the stack wouldn’t fall down and a face came into view through the space in the bookshelf. "OH!" she exclaimed in surprise, falling backwards onto her hands from her former leaned down position.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry felt different these days, now that the Dark Lord had been vanquished and his Death Eaters and other followers had gone into hiding. Everything seemed so much calmer and less stressful now, despite the fact that it was still a school. Ginny's guess was that the professors were trying to be kind towards the students, giving them time to grieve and get over the traumatic battle that so many brave souls had been lost in, hence the fact that there wasn't much homework being assigned just yet. For Ginny, it was a bit strange to have so much free time at school considering the work load that was usually assigned from the first days of classes to the last. Not to mention the added strain of NEWTS in the case of Ginny and her fellow seventh years. Well, at least they could all relax for a bit and bask in the fact that the professors were being incredibly lax for the time being.
In Ginny's opinion, everything about the wizarding world had changed. Not only were people living in less fear than they had been for the last few years, but now it seemed that the world was sort of uniting as one, helping each other to pick up the shattered pieces of their world and glue them back together in a new way, making a new world. It was nice to see people who would have never spoken or associated with each other before were finally forgetting their differences and working together to re-build, and enjoy, the new world that they had lived to see. A world without evil lurking around every dark corner, ready to strike, was an amazing change, and Ginny was glad that she was still alive to be able to see it. It was moments like this, however, when Ginny thought of the fallen, family and friends of those who had survived, who would never see the new world in action. People like Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Mad-Eye, Sirius, and many others. They were all people that Ginny looked up too, and kept deep within her heart so that she would have a piece of each of her lost loved ones to hold on too. With their memories locked deep within her, Ginny felt as if they hadn't died, and viewed the new world as a tribute to the fallen to remind every one about the people who had bravely given their lives to make the world the way it was now. That just meant that none of them had died in vain.
Ginny was one of those students who, like Hermione, strived for success in all aspects of her life, especially when it came to school. People like her brother Ron, who had only survived through school because Hermione had been nice enough to help him out, irked the seventeen year old a bit, though she had enough self-control to keep her annoyance in check. Another thing that irked her was when people put forth only a partial effort and didn't work as hard as some of their fellow classmates and sometimes still ended up with the same results as those who actually put effort in. Ginny could not count the number of times that she had witnessed a situation like that. It just didn't seem fair, and she knew that she wasn't the only one who found those situations annoying and frustrating. There were also those occassions when one student would do something to make the professor angry, resulting in the entire class having to pay for it; now those situations were frustrating and took all of Ginny's self-control to keep from lashing out. Instead, she would just bite her lower lip and try to ignore the annoyance rising within her.
These were the thoughts going through the young woman's mind as she wondered through the library, attempting to find something to read that would hold her attention long enough to make her feel entertained. Hogwarts was pretty boring without having Ron, Harry and Hermione there, and though Ginny had other friends in her own year that she enjoyed spending time with, she found most of the remaining students rather dull and immature. Or, at least, not people that she would willingly spend time with. Scanning the lower shelves of the row that she was currently standing in, Ginny's brown eyes came across a space in the row of books and peeked through just in time to see a pair of familiar blue eyes, radish earrings, and pale blonde hair looking back at her. Obviously startled, Ginny watched as the girl fell backwards and ran to the other side of the bookcase to help her up. "Sorry Luna!" she said, extending her hand to help her friend to her feet. "Are you alright?"
