This list is put into place simply because there are a lot of people at Hogwarts, and yes, while there are probably going to be people with repeated first names, since this is a forum and people are refered to by their character name, it would get awfully confusing to have six Ashleys running about. This is why we ask that each character have a name that has not been used before, unless the character has a nickname that they go by rather than their own name.
A reminder: Yes, you may have wanted one of these names really, really, really bad for your character, but, there are plenty of beautiful and creative names out there for you to use.

However, understand also that since we are trying to keep this as real as we can (we comprehend the irony of this being a Harry Potter RPG), the spelling might be too American, to modern, or simply something that we don't think could work in the role play. Besides, wasn't it Shakespeare that wrote, "A rose by any other name smells just as sweet?" In this philosophy we hold, that your character can be as strong with a different name or a shake-down from what you originally had (the staff will offer suggestions and help you come to a decision). After all, a name should not be what makes a character stand out, but rather, their personality.
