That movie seriously sucked. Not only did they forget many important parts of the book but left out any character development. I know its necessary to shortened the movie a lot and leave out many things from the book, but it was like they only focused on effects. Sure, they looked amazing, but I'd rather if they left out a few special effects and didn't hurry trough the plot.
For example, how many seconds did Harry have to grieve Sirius when he died? Like 5 or 8 seconds of screaming and hurt before he scurried of after Bellatrix.. Riiight.. Harry just lost the only remains of his 'family' but no no, he's not that hurt.
-huffs- I don't want to comment on every aspect I find bad, that'll properly take all day and many posts, so I'll keep it very short.
Oh, but I must remember this;
WHY DIDN'T DRACO GET MORE SCREENTIME... Grrrrr... That sucked, he had like two lines and 20 seconds if not less.

They did do a lot of things bizarrely, out of all the movies I liked that one the least. They compressed in all the wrong places; you don't even see Lily in the pensieve seen, and that's where Harry was supposed to learn their hatred, which is pretty critical to later story line. Not to mention the Marauders. Looked. Like. Crap.
I looked more like some of them, and I'm a girl! They used cheep spinny effects and blurs to change it, but it only made me motion sick.
Sirius' grieving was just pitiful, and the Avada Kedavera spell wasn't even used right. When Bellatrix screamed the spell, her lips weren't moving; though I have to give credit, Helena makes an awesome Bella.
Ugh, all in all, the movie was a train wreck, and I dread the sixth one. >.>; If they cut out the hospital scene in HBP I will slit someone's throat.
Kthankies.

That film was a major dissapointment. While I accept that there was a lot to squeeze into a short amount of time, especially as the plot is at a crucial point here. I have to say, I was a little sad to see none of the cleaning of Grimmauld place, especially since the locket is such an important much to book 7. There were some parts of the movie which they seemed to drag out, and not the best bits either. The scene where Sirius is showing Harry the family tree seemed to go on for longer than was neccasary, so much so that my friend's brother fell asleep at that point (not to wake up again until the DoM). The DoM...okay, the special effects were amazing, but not much of it stuck to the book. It seemed to me like they just walked inside the building, straight to where they needed to go...what about the journey through the MoM? And the telephone box (which in my opinion could have been a really humerous add in there)? And, just out of curiousity, I thought that Bellatrix never sent the Avada Kedavra curse at Sirius, but a 'red beam of light' or whatnot...oh dear. -sighs- obsessed much? me? not done yet. I think the only reason this film was saved was because of how successful its previous ones were, and also because of the talented actors there. The few who stood out for me were Imelda Staunton (Umbridge), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) and, as always, Alan Rickman. There wasn;t nearly enough emphasis on the importance of the prophecy, and it seemed very rushed at the end. But why...why was there so little anger from Harry? No shouting, no screaming and now throwing of little silver things. It just didn't seem as good as the others to me. Or maybe they're just holding back all the details to keep us in suspence...I doubt it.

Ok. so. Yes.
Order of the Phoenix is my FAVORITE book. And when it's the longest book and the shortest movie, you know there is a problem.
What was up with all of the fast-forwarded montages? The whole movie was a giant montage, except for the scenes in grimmauld place. It was ridiculous.
-sigh-
Let me start from the beginning.
a. The opening scene was incredibly poorly done. Why did the dementors not have cloaks? come on, just give them some hoods!!! I laughed later when Mrs. Figg described them as wearing cloaks like in the book, but in the previous scene they didn't even have them.
b. Luna was genius. Pure genius. I applaud that actress!
c. I do not like Emma Watson. Her portrayal of Hermione has not changed since the first film. Watch the two of them side-by-side, and you will see exactly the same tones of voice, mannerisms, etc...not to mention the same skill in acting. I used to like her, but come on Emma! Give Hermione some life! Part of that is the writers fault, but all the same...
d. Which brings me to, the writing! Terrible. There were so many lines in that movie that made we absolutely cringe. The first was Kingsley's "Woah!" I burst out into a fit of hysterical laughter at his completely useless and misplaced comment. Harry's outburst of "Look at me!" also just felt ridiculous. i understand the motivation for it and it made sense, but the way it was written in in that moment felt wrong. There was also absolutely no character development. In the book, I cried when Sirius died. I usually cry in every movie, or tv show, or anything that's remotely emotional. I even cried watching Disney's Tarzan when I was 9 or so. But in the movie I felt absolutely no sadness for it, because there was no character development, and it was so abrupt. That whole scene (another montage!) was done so poorly, it made me angry. They should have put more emotion into Sirius dying, and less into Voldemort's possession of Harry. That was cheesy.
e. Could they not have spared 15 more minutes for them to explore the other areas of the ministry? it would have been so much more fun for them to be chased through the various rooms.
f. What was with that apparition smoke? It was silly. Yes, it sort of looked cool, but it made no sense.
I haven't seen a Harry Potter movie in theaters since the 3rd one because I was so disgusted with it. I haven't changed my opinion. I just don't understand why they can't make this translate better. Lord of the Rings translated so well from book to movie. Did they leave things out? Of course! But they did it in a way that wasn't a rip off, and the writing was soo much better than that for the Harry Potter movies.
If anything, I liked this director the least. I hate that he's doing half blood prince.

Or atleast some talented director -.- LOTR was brilliant, absolutely the most stunning film in a life time! With a little tiny bit of effort, this movie could have been half as good = decent job

I was highly disappointed with the movie for most of the reasons listed above, for the reasons listed above... They're splitting the last movie into two parts, they should have done the same with the other movies as well. I'm not looking forward to the next movie. If nothing else, it'll either be the death of a franchise, because they cut out so much that the people who read the books won't go see it (and keep in mind the books are what make the movies popular, piss off those fans and you don't have a movie), or, it will inspire someone to make a miniseries, or a TV show, about it. I can only hope for a long-running TV show based as a miniseries that will actually cover the events of the book. Maybe they can find decent, age-appropriate actors this time. It might be a while still, but I know someone will do it and do it right. Just... not right now.

Luna and Bellatrix were good, the special effects were good...and that was about it, for all the reasons previously mentioned. If I hadn't read the book, I don't think I would have understood what was happening at all. And Dan annoyed me all the way through, as did Emma to a lesser extent.
I will watch the next two (three?), but I'm not expecting them to be that great. How can Philosopher's Stone, which is about a quarter of the size of Order of the Phoenix, be made into a longer film, when so many relevant things were left out of this one?

If I hadn't read the book, I don't think I would have understood what was happening at all. My dad rented it, he's never watched and he was utterly lost within 5 minutes. Then, he got lost on POA, but still, point missed. I'll watch them all, I'll own them all, but they'll gather dust as I'll only watch once in revoltion and leave them there. Really, it was awful.
Evanna Lynch though, forgot about her. She was amazing. I loved how they interviewed her later and that's what she actually sounded like. That dreamy, off-in-space-somewhere voice was actually hers, I never would've guessed someone would actually have it.

I don't want Harry Potter to turn into the next Pirates of the Caribbean... one or two things ruined the whole thing for me, including the plot and the crappiness of acting.

Well, as long as there's some sort of Tonksie-Lupin relationship going on in the next two (THEY'D BETTER NOT CUT ANYTHING OUT) I'll be fine, i'll live. It's only two hours off of my life, right? =3

More Bella, less everyone else. I'll be satisfied then. =D
Seriously the only reason I got through OOTP was because Helena and Evanna were involved in it, like others have said.

Ooooooh. Mistake.
Right after the scene where Cho and Harry kiss, Hermione explains to Ron everything that Cho must be feeling. She states: "and frightened of failing her OWLs because she's so busy worrying about everything else." However, Cho can't be feeling this. She's a year ahead of them, therefore isn't taking the OWLs.
I noticed all on my own at 2:30am. So, I'm quite proud of myself. *nods*

The thing that really pissed me off about this movie was that they cut Hermoine's part out at the end. When they're running around the Department of Mysteries and she puts all the Xs on the door (like the Moses thing). They always cut Hermoine's parts out.
The first movie, yeah, one of the last scenes where Hermoine tells harry which potion to drink. Um no, sorry Hermoine, you're not important enough.
