Evaluation! ____________________ After two years, the time has come for the members of H&H to evaluate the forum, staff, and general role playing experience. Please rate H&H based on your time and experience here, regardless of how long you've been here. I don't want anyone to hold back. I want all honest answers, whether they be bad or good. Keep in mind, that we're looking for constructive criticism, so 'zomg I love H&H!' or 'I hate you all!' aren't really going to help. The evaluation is meant to gauge our productivity, and whether or not your needs as a member are being met, which is why we prefer well articulated answers. I would like to give out house points (or sickles) to everyone who participates, so please be sure to say which character you'd like the house points to be applied to. Adults, you will receive sickles. The payout is as follows... Students: 50 pointsAdults: 10 GalleonsPlease use the form, and please don't add any extra colors, fonts, etc. This will make it easier for us to read. How do you feel about.... The plot? I love the plot, it gives alot more room for creativity. People don't have to truly worry about following certain events that took place in a book. he rules? The rules are well Written, thought and easy to follow. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)?The organizations is good you can tell where everything is if one remembers the location of their threads. The application approval process? I love the applications process because you get more people to critque your work and what one person misses another one might catch. The staff? The staff are friendly, and willing to answer any questions one might have. Other members? They are kind respectful. Some of them , such as myself have made great improvements in their roleplaying. The activity?I personally the activity could be alittle beter. We have members who join and then let their characters become inactive. It took forever in version one to get a voldemort who was somewhat active. then that very same voldemort became inactive. I personally think that people shouldn't have to beg for posts. I know Lucy whitbury would love a thread with someone. The atmosphere? Its fun relaxing and people aren't too big on rushing others for posts. The role playing? It''s awesome. Some of the character hook you into the thread and you get a feel for actually being there. i love it.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? I personally dislike that since i've been here there hasn't been a single quidditch match. What would you like for H&H in the future? In the future i would love to see us grow and the plot of the grendel flourish. that is more personally for me seeing as I am grendel. What would you improve upon? Te only i would like to improve on is the number of inactive players. if we had as many active players as we did inactive we could really move this site along plotwise. The grendel could be a growing force and become more and more powerful. Things could really be moving along. Any other comments or suggestions? I'm first Evaluator What character would you like your points/galleons applied to?Lucy Whitbury

How do you feel about.... The plot? I'm glad we've veered away from the books and taken the adult characters we have into consideration. As the Death Eaters made up the majority of adults version one, it's nice to see that the evil side of the adult world hasn't died out. I have high hopes that things are going to heat up with the Grendel very soon and I know as soon as that happens the other characters will come into play as well. The rules? I find the rules here to be extremely fair and kept in mind all the time. The members seem to keep them in mind when role playing and just talking to people and in my time here, the staff have been very kind and lent me an open ear when I had concerns to voice. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? Excellent! I know my way around this site like I know my house. It's a beautiful layout and I'm ecstatic when the page loads every time. The application approval process? It may take a little while, but the benefits that come from that wait are worth it. The three yays is a great way to make sure everything's up to standard and if one is willing to go through the process to get their character accepted, they definitely belong at H&H. The staff? Becca and Ari were the first people I talked to and made me feel like I was already part of the community even though I'd only been on the site a few days. Krissy, Nat, and Chelly keep me laughing and are always doing their jobs. Hannah takes care of this site whenever she possibly can and I'm glad she's decided that though she may not always have the time to admin/be here, she will keep the site open and alive. The staff is very organized, everyone has a part to play and if a staff member needs help with something, one of the other staff jumps right on it. The staff keeps on top of things as well as they possibly can. Other members? Everyone is so welcoming and willing to help each other out. There's just such a wonderful air on this site. There's no rush and everyone realizes that when school starts and jobs call, the level of activity of certain members won't be as high. On other sites I've felt pressured to post even when I don't have the muse and I know I don't churn out excellent posts in that state. Here I can take my time and make a better post than if I rushed. Everyone really cares about each other and tries to make each other feel at home. The activity? I have a problem with my own activity, I know I should be more active, but I have a lot of obligations coming up and sometimes I just can't get a post to come out. I honestly don't have a problem with the overall activity. It seems someone's always posting or talking in the C-box. We're one of the most alive sites I've seen floating about. The atmosphere? I don't know how much more I can say about this that I haven't in the last few questions. I love signing in and talking to everyone. I feel calm when I come to this site. The role playing? Lovely. Everyone has a really good grasp on their characters and they have excellent writing skills. I don't think I've seen a Mary Sue on here for a long, long time.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? I don't really know, there hasn't been a game since I've been here. I suppose I can't really speak on it because of that, but I know there's a certain extent of time you have to be online if you're in the actual Quidditch match and I can't always make that because I have a 2 hour limit on the computer every weekend and a 1 hour limit on weekdays. What would you like for H&H in the future? More good adults. The Grendel needs an opposition. What would you improve upon? I honestly can' t think of anything to improve upon. I would like it if the 'of the month' awards were decided upon more quickly, but that's not really of importance. Any other comments or suggestions? Keep it up, I suppose. <3 What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Nazim Vaisey

How do you feel about.... The plot? I love the plot! It was fun before the revamp when we were doing the seventh year, but now we can be more creative since we don't have to be as close to the book as before. Also, I think the grendel looks like more fun than just normal death eaters. The rules? The rules are precise and well though-out. They're really good and I haven't really seen them broken very much since I've been here. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? I love everything about the appearance and layout! I've been on sites before where I had to search for like twenty minutes just to find one thing, or ask someone about it. It really puts new members off the board, but this one has everything exactly where it's supposed to be. And blue's my favorite color (: The application approval process? The application process can be a little annoying when you have to wait awhile, but it's worth the wait. We all know admins have other things to do so we can't complain about that, but when we do get yayed, we know it's a good app and we deserve to be able to roleplay (: The staff? I love the staff! They were really welcome when I first joined a year ago and they are still very friendly in the CBox and things. Everyone does their jobs and it's you guys who've kept the site open. You could've fallen back with the apps and everything, but you didn't. It's great. Other members? Everyone here is awesome! I love talking to everyone in the CBox and it'll be really fun to RP with some people when I get some threads xP People aren't as active as they used to be and that'll increase when the new school year starts and that sucks, but for now everyone's nice and awesome and I love coming on here to talk to everyone. The activity? It could be better, but at least we have members. Some sites die after a month or two and we're still going after two years! I just think it's better to have a little than none. The atmosphere? The atmosphere is great. Don't really know how much more to say than I have above xD but i love coming on here ad just messing around when I'm not rping. The role playing? There could be more, and I'm not complaining as I could be helping make more threads but I'm not... so. Yeah. Can't complain. Plus, some people are being super awesome making them and everyone's having fun ^^
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? Well, I wouldn't know, as there hasn't been a single match since I joined. I'd like to see though, and since Laurie is a chaser lol. What would you like for H&H in the future? Hmm... More members definately. Not that we can control that, but it would be great for more people to join. The more the merrier. What would you improve upon? Well... I'd like to see at least one Quidditch match. I read the way it's played and it looks like fun. Any other comments or suggestions? Mmm... KEEP BEING AWESOME! What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Laurieee

How do you feel about.... The plot? It is fucking win, Hannah Bananas. The rules? They're simple and to the point. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? Perfection. The application approval process? Bit long, honestly. But it works. The staff? I LOVE ALL OF YOU FUCKING GUYS. Other members? They're amazing. It's what makes the site run. The activity? It's a bit slow, honestly. The atmosphere? Warm and welcoming. The role playing? Awesome.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? I like the fact that a house can make one SINGLE post and win the game. Ah, the fond memories. What would you like for H&H in the future? I don't know. I wish I could be more helpful. =( more members! What would you improve upon? My activity? lol. Any other comments or suggestions? Keep it going, H&H. What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Daphne.

How do you feel about.... The plot? I feel like the plot needs a lot more member involvement. I would really like to see members come up with their own plot events to role play out, something that would go board-wide and allow everyone to participate. I do have the main site plot open so that more people can role play whatever they want, but the team work to come up with a multi-member plot would be awesome.
The rules? I don't often scold people for breaking the rules. The biggest rule that I find broken is people don't message myself or another staff member before they decide to add something special to their character, like animagus abilities. I don't want to seem like I don't want anyone to have those special abilities, but the rules are there on purpose; often people don't think through the special stuff and what affects it has on their character. The point of messaging me is to make sure you have all your ducks in a row, and that you're going to try and stick to canon.
The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? I spent two years getting the layout of the boards just right, so I like it. I can't think of anything else to add to the boards, to be perfectly honest. As for the skin, it can always improve. There are always going to be something I notice and will want to change. I don't have much critique for myself in this area because I already beat myself up about it when I made it!
The application approval process? I wish more people would take the advice I give them about their characters. I believe that the hardest part of H&H is the application; after you know your character, and have answered the questions I might ask, then the role playing should be a breeze. The better people know their characters, the better explained those characters are, the easier it all gets. I also wish I didn't have to explain the same thing over and over to people, especially to members who might have been here for a while; reading the rules and articles should be forefront with everyone when they post an app, but often people just copy and paste. I have no problem explaining things, of course, but I wish I didn't have to.
The staff? I wish the staff would do things without waiting for me to ask them to do it. They are super at their jobs, they do their assignments very well, but often I have to remind or ask to see something done and that gets old. I've complained to them about this before, but we're all being honest here so it's only fair.
Other members? I love all the members here! I've said it once, I'll say it again and again... the members make this site. You all are the friendliest, most drama free bunch of role players I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. You are patient with new members, eager to jump on new ideas, and are capable of great change.
The activity? Not where I want it to be - but as an admin, the activity is rarely where I want it to be. I would love it if every person who was ever a member still role played here - I remember them all, and I miss them all. Great characters come through here, as do wonderful people, but schedules and lives do come first, as much as it crushes the overall activity of the site. I am not a very good person to talk, since I am probably the worst member here on the site (I've not role played with Ron in a year!), which is probably why I try to be completely compassionate about people who have to take breaks or leave. Lives come first, always, and it would be stupid of me to demand something from everyone that I don't give myself. I suppose if I were more active, others might take the cue and be active also, but my own life is chaos and I do the best I can. I am very happy with the activity we do get here, though I do wish we had more.
The atmosphere? Everyone here is creative, fun, mature, and very welcoming. I couldn't ask for a better atmosphere on a site - in fact, I can't recall a site with a better atmosphere than ours.
The role playing? Phenomenal. We don't ask much in terms of role playing, and somehow we end up with multitudes in terms of content and style. Members here grow as writers, people, and mentors. I have tried my best to role play with everyone here, but even though I can't, what I read is just amazing. I think people who role play here are better writers than a lot of published novelists.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? I wish we did events more often; I also wish members would suggest other kinds of events for us to do besides Quidditch.
What would you like for H&H in the future? More members, more role playing... maybe our own domain in the future.
What would you improve upon? I can't think of anything, which is why I need to ask you lot! I've poured into H&H all I can think of.
Any other comments or suggestions? I love you guys! You all rock.
What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Astoria Greengrass

How do you feel about.... The plot? I LOVE it! It's exactly what I'd always hoped to find in an HP RP, I mean the part about taking the books as canon and RPing what happens afterwards. I mean, I loved the old plot too, but this is exactly what I wanted. And I love having the Grendel, I like the idea of a new set of villains...I've seen too many boards set post-DH with a "new Dark Lord," and those don't interest me, but I like the concept of the Grendel. The rules? I think the rules are just right. I've seen sites that were too strict, as well as those that were too lenient and didn't enforce the rules they did have. Here, there are enough rules to keep order, without impairing anyone's creativity or anything...actually, the rules help to make us (or me, anyway) better at RPing, and I like that. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? Love it! I think there are just the right number of boards for the level of activity and number of members, enough to have lots of variety but not so many that there are tons of empty boards or anything, like I've seen sometimes. They're well organized, and I love the skin too. The application approval process? I think it is a good system. I like the application itself, it's long enough to get inside the character's head, without being so involved that you're burned out before you even start RPing. And I like the three yays or nays; I think it's better for multiple staff members to give their input, that way each member can make their app the best it can possibly be. Plus, the staff members are pretty good about approving the apps in a timely manner...even though it took me over two months to actually finish my app, once I did finish, I was approved basically within 24 hours. The staff? The staff members are awesome, always so friendly and welcoming and eager to help wherever they can. I've seen some boards where the admins would only make their friends staff members, and then would let them get away with pretty much anything, not holding them to the same rules as the other members; and I really love that H&&H isn't like that. The staff members are clearly staff for good reasons, and they work really well as a team. But they're not clique-y or anything, they're equally friendly to each other and to each new member. Other members? I love the members on this site. They're so friendly and welcoming, just like the staff, and there always seems to be someone around if anyone has a question or needs help. Again, they're not clique-y either; when I first joined, the site had already been around for almost a year, but I was still able to fit right in, and the same is true now, a year later. The activity? The activity level here is actually just about perfect for me with the amount of time I'm able to spend online. It's not so dead that I log on and nothing's happened since I was last on, but it's also not so crazy busy that I can't keep up if I go a day or two without signing in. The atmosphere? I love the atmosphere, it's so friendly and relaxed...people don't nag each other to post, or get in fights over little things (that I've seen). If people are online, which is usually the case, then there's generally fun conversations going on in the cbox; even when it gets serious, it's still great because we support each other and are there for each other, like a family. The role playing? The role playing is great! I didn't have much RP experience when I first joined, but one of the great things about this site is that RPing here has actually pushed me to improve. Though there is a minimum post limit, almost no one posts that little. But at the same time, it's not so advanced that it's intimidating...I've been on sites where every single member makes thousand-word posts regularly, and that was discouraging because I couldn't keep up. The level here is basically perfect.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? Well, I haven't actually been around for any of the actual Quidditch matches...and judging by the way they're described, I probably wouldn't be able to since my online time is limited to the library's hours, depending on when they actually took place. What would you like for H&H in the future? I hope the activity level gets back to where I've seen it in the past, like when I first joined last summer...and that being said, I'd like to have enough online time myself to be able to keep up with it in that case! More site-wide events would be fun, and I'll certainly try and think of ideas to suggest for those! What would you improve upon? I would increase my own activity level, and hope that then everyone else would do the same, and then the activity would be through the roof! Any other comments or suggestions? Of all the RP sites I've been a part of, this is the one that has stayed open the longest and been the most active, and I think that really says something. It's an amazing site, and I'm so glad to be a part of it! <3 What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Amanda Rochester, the only one I have

How do you feel about.... The plot? I love it. It's so difficult to find sites set post-DH that are original, and with the invention of the Grendel, I think we've got it. I also like its open-endedness; pretty much anything will fit now. I think Hannah mentioned in her evaluation about member-created plots, and I also agree with that; I think it'd be great to have some sub-plots involving groups of characters, and having the members involved in directing where the site goes plot-wise would be awesome. The rules? I think the rules are fine; most of them are common sense and therefore it's not often that I have to go and tell someone to go and reread them. There are quite a lot of threads with rules in, and other than the special creatures one - which seems to be the one most people don't read - everyone does a really good job at following them. The forum layout (boards, organization, skins, ect.)? I love it. The application approval process? I think it works just fine. It can be a little slow at times, particularly if staff don't get on to do their yay-ing, but I think the time we take to read over the apps and give comments helps people get better grips on their characters in the end, and having well-rounded characters from all of the members is something that I think makes us unique. The staff? I love you guys. I don't think I've ever been on a nicer or more capable staff team. Other members? This site has, without a doubt, the best member base I've ever seen. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming to new people, gets on really well and are really good writers. Without the members the site would be nothing, so yeah, you guys definitely rock. The activity? I have to say, it could be better. From a writing point of view, personally it's perfect because I don't feel pressured to rush my replies in order to get them done, but from the admin point of view, I think activity could always be higher. We've definitely come out of the slump we were in a couple of months ago and I think that's great, and to still be here two years on without that dead feeling sites get when people slowly stop coming to them is amazing, but if all the accepted members posted a couple of times a week, that would be great. Actually, that's the other thing that bugs me; the people who sign on regularly have a perfect level of activity, it's those who just pop in occasionally, post and then disappear for a few weeks that annoy me activity-wise, I think. The atmosphere? Again, I think the atmosphere here is something that makes H&H stand out from other sites; it's fun, friendly and relaxed, and I don't think new members feel intimidated by it (although correct me if I'm wrong). I love that we can have the silliest conversations in the cbox and still support someone when they have crap going on in their lives. We're definitely like a family here, and I know that I've never been as comfortable talking to people on any other site. The role playing? It's perfect. We have a word minimum, but everyone seems to regularly post over it, but at the same time even the more experienced players are perfectly happy to write with those with less experience and help each other to grow and improve as writers. We definitely have a great bunch of writers here and I hope that eventually I'll have had the chance to post with everyone.
What do you like/dislike about the way events like Quidditch are run? I've never actually attended a Quidditch match due to time zone differences, so I can't really comment on that. I think it would be great to have more, though, and at different times so that everyone can join in, whichever time zone they happen to be in. What would you like for H&H in the future? Another year of great stuff. It would be great if the activity level could get back up to where it's been in the past, so new members would be great, as well as bringing back some old ones we don't hear from anymore. We had a Dance ages ago and I think it'd be great to have another site-wide activity like that. I've also thought it'd be cool if we had our own website as well, although personally I wouldn't really have a clue about how to make that happen. What would you improve upon? The only thing I can think of is my own activity - H&H is awesome and I can't honestly think of anything that really needs changing. Any other comments or suggestions? I love you all, and I'm so proud to be a part of the H&H family <3 What character would you like your points/galleons applied to? Libby
