The at-the-time two year old had a problem saying Derek, and DJ was quite a bit easier for him. JakeHis middle name is Jacob, and it's mostly his dad that calls him Jake. His parents made a deal that they would split up the name. His mother got the first name, and his father his middle. Daniel picked Jacob because that was his father's name, and his father was a great man. So instead of calling him Derek, or even DJ, he sticks to his middle name, but more of a common version, Jake.[/ul] Age && Birthday:Year:Blood:House:Appearance. Even though DJ is a very laid back person, he still gets upset from time to time, and when that happens, he tries to hide it. But, he can't completely, as his eyes give it all away. Instead of dancing and shining, they just kind of sit there, like dull stones inside of his head. And, finally, on very rare occasions when he gets angry, those peridot rivers dance through the emerald that surrounds them, making his eyes almost flash in a dangerous manner. Derek's smile is something that has never changed, and probably never will. Even if you look at the pictures of when he was a baby, and he was cheeking it for the first time, it is the exact same smile that he has now at the age of sixteen. It's very quick to spread across his mouth, much like a wildfire would make its way across a dry field that hadn't gotten rain in a month. In the very corner of his left cheek, there's a small but rather noticeable dimple that pops up out of no where to say hello. It sticks around as long as Derek's smile does, which is quite a bit considering the fact that he is more often then not found with a rather large smile spread across his face, even if it's for no apparent reason.[/ul] ((Body & Posture))((Voice & Style))Personality. Hours at a time, stuck in his or her room talking about nothing but that subject soon got boring, though. Eventually it got to the point where they would stop to talk about something random, have little chats here and there. They soon started to realize they had more in common the they realized, and even after the project was completely finished they spent hours at a time together, just talking. Soon, though, Margret's older brother Micheal realized something was up. Micheal had never been a very stupid person, though he still had his moments at times. At first, even though he saw the looks his best friend gave his little sister, he thought nothing of all the time the two spent together. They had to work on a project together, that was all. But it wasn't too long before he saw his sister still going to Daniel's house, and 'accidentally' leaving her books behind. It wasn't that Micheal minded the two just hanging out instead of studying, it was just that he was being lied to about it. He confronted Daniel about it, and Daniel confessed everything that he had been thinking, feeling, and doing up to that point. To get back at Daniel for lying to him, he acted very upset at the idea that his best friend was going after his sister when, in reality, he couldn't of been more pleased. Daniel was everything that he wanted for his baby sister, he was sweet, honest, and cared for her a great deal. He knew he wouldn't try and screw her over, or hurt her in any way. He couldn't keep the charade up for very long, of course....it was his best friend after all. He gave his blessing, and slowly Daniel tried to 'make a move' on Margret. She was not to give in so easily, though. She had heard from her friends playing hard to get was the best thing, and even dated someone else for a week first while Daniel constantly tried to win her affections. She gave in though, because she knew she felt for him more then she had felt for anyone, and did not want to have him give up. They dated all through high school, and graduated as high school sweethearts. It wasn't all smooth sailing, though. They had their fights and even broke up once, though that 'break' only lasted a few days. They both went to college, and manged to make it through a long distance relationship, as Daniel only wanted to be a mechanic while Margret wanted to be an Eye Doctor. Soon after Margret finished college, as she was in school for quite a bit longer then Daniel, they got married. Margret's father was not exactly thrilled at the idea of his baby girl marrying a mere mechanic, but he knew she was way too stubborn to listen to him, so he said nothing. Besides, his boy was okay with Daniel, and he had yet to see anything (else) wrong with the boy. Micheal had said nothing but praises about his best friend, even when he found out he was courting his sister behind his back. It didn't take too long for Todd to realize that his daughter had found herself a good man, and wished the same on his other, slightly younger daughter. Daniel constantly helped Todd and his wife, Della, around the house with random things, fixing up stuff and even did some things like oil changes and such for free. He tried his best to stay in the good standing of his wife's parents, and he felt that he owe them for giving him such a wonderful wife. It wasn't too long after Daniel and Marget got married that Melinda and William did. It came as a slight shock, since she had kept William a secret for the longest time. Daniel and Micheal both weren't so sure about William, as they hadn't really seen him much before he became their brother. Who was this guy? Who did he think he was just swooping in and marrying their sister without so much as talking to them? They were very standoff-ish for the first couple of times they had a 'men's night out', but it soon became apparent why their sister loved him. He fit in well with the rest of the family, and he was a complete riot at the bar. Those nights at the bar, though, came to a close very, very fast....at least, for Daniel and William. Their wives got pregnant very close together, and soon they were both holding back hair when it came to morning sickness, following shortly by the midnight runs for their wives' cravings. They never complained though, as much as a pain in the ass it was sometimes when their wives decided they wanted chocolate at three in the morning. They had both always wanted children, and soon they would have them. You could imagine Margret and Melinda's delight when they found out they were both having baby girls. They went shopping as often as they possibly could, at times even buying cutesy same outfits in different colors so they could be 'twins'. The glamor wore off very quickly though, as the contractions and water breaking started. Both pregnancies went without a hitch, and soon there were two little girls added to the family; Alexandria and Lauren. They couldn't of been happier with their little bundles of joy. Of course, it wasn't all bubbles and toy duckies, there were many sleepless nights and instead of three a.m chocolate run, the men had three a.m formula runs. The kids grew up way too fast for their parents comfort, and before they knew it, their little girls were three years old. Melinda and Margret started talking about how they wanted more children. They talked it over with their husbands, and soon they both were set about having another child. It didn't take long for Margret to get pregnant, but for some reason Melinda couldn't. Not for her lack of trying, though, of course. Matthew came out not too long after Alexandria and Lauren turned four, but Melinda wouldn't get pregnant for another two years. Not for her lack of trying, of course. She tried very hard, and even went as far as going to the doctor's to see what was wrong with her. But, of course, there was nothing that could be done. She tried even taking certain hormones, and she still couldn't get pregnant. She couldn't help but feel a little resentment to wards her sister, as she had a lovely baby boy of her own to parade around with her daughter. She tried not to show it as much as she could, but still Margret could feel it. She didn't take any offense to it, though, and actually felt bad for her baby sister. She wished she could help out some how, but it seemed like she didn't have to. Two years after Matthew was born, finally Melinda got pregnant again. And, just like the first time, so did Margret. [/ul] Baby[/i] around, as he had, so far, grew up with girls. Finally, a few weeks later, both boys' mothers were fully refreshed, and ready to take on all of their children. They constantly had play dates with each other and other families that lived around them, and everyone was very close. Soon, the little boys were starting to talk. Ethan, though only a week and a half older then Derek, talked like he had known how to since he was born. Derek, on the other hand, had a slight problem speaking. His words came out slightly slurred, and it took you awhile to understand what exactly it was that he was saying. Matthew, thankfully, was always very good at translating for everyone, and worked very hard with his little brother to talk well. Or, at the very least, as well as the two year old himself could. Eventually, Derek started to talk a little better, and everyone was very impressed with the way Matthew helped him. Then, of course, came the walking. This time it was Ethan's turn to be a little slow at it. Derek was good at walking from the start, grabbing furniture and walking from couch to chair, to table, and back again. Ethan stumbled a lot, but his cousin worked with him a lot, egging him on, until finally he started walking. Derek practically skipped walking by himself to running, and that's what you found him doing constantly, running everywhere. It drove his mother nuts with worry, but his father soothed her as often as he could, explaining that's how boys were. Suddenly, though,he went flying through the air and smacked his mouth on the ground, knocking out his front tooth. Margret had a fit on Daniel, scolding him with a bunch of 'I told you so's', but all Daniel did was shrug and laugh a little. Boys would be boys. [/ul] ToddlerChildhood [/i].He worked hard on it, though, and slowly became better. Sometimes one of Matthew's friends would try and pick on Derek for being a 'art nerd', but Matthew wasn't having it. He didn't hang out with his brother very often, but he was still his little brother. Slowly Matthew and Derek grew apart, but at the same time Ethan and Derek grew together. They had always been friends, but they were just cousins, and that was as far as it went. But Derek got lonely, and Ethan saw that. They started hanging out with each other a lot more, and their parents are glad to let the boys start hanging out with each other again. Once they got old enough to whine about having to go to their cousins, they stopped making them go over there. They wanted their children to get along, but they would never force it. It wasn't very long before the boys were inseparable, constantly hanging out and doing things together. They were boys, and rough housed a lot, coming home with even more bruises then before to the dismay of their mothers. But, nothing was serious. [/ul] The LetterFirst year[/i] be the next person? He didn't like to think about it, and generally didn't go anywhere by himself. He had a lot of friends, and used that to his best advantage, never going anywhere with less then three people on TOP of himself. He found out it was Harry that opened it, and though that surprised him, Harry still saved the day. Parslemouth or not, he was still everyone's hero. [/ul] Second Year[/i]. Every time he tried to talk about what happened the year before hand, he got blown off, or was told that they were busy. Truthfully, he knew they didn't want to hear it. They didn't understand it, and he had an idea they didn't want to understand it. Being an outsider in his own home was so stressful, and he couldn't wait to go back to school. When he got back to school, everyone was terrified of Sirius Black being loose, and all people talked about was how exactly someone broke out of Azkaban. Everyone felt bad for Harry, as it was the guy who gave his parents to Voldemort. It made Derek feel a little bad for being so uncomfortable at home. Though his family didn't understand the wizard stuff, he still had his parents in his life. Derek himself wasn't exactly that worried about it though, as Hogwarts was the safest place he knew about. No one could break into Hogwarts, they were absolutely fine. As soon as he got comfortable with that idea, the dementors hit. He was at a Quidditch game, watching it avidly. He was there always, no matter who played, even though he didn't play himself. It got really cold, and all of a sudden he felt very unhappy. All he could remember was his sister's dolls and his parents' looks when he first came home that summer, every unhappy feeling and thought was all he could handle. Suddenly, they were gone, and he was all warm again feeling dazed. Dumbledore said it wouldn't happen again, that dementors would never be on Hogwarts property again, and though Derek trusted him, it took a little while for him to feel safe enough to go to a Quidditch game. [/ul] Third YearFourth Year[/i]. He wanted his old headmaster back, someone who actually cared about the students. He was in detention more often then not, and could barely hold a normal quil long enough to do a letter, let alone the essays that the professors wanted. Slowly, though, the way that Umbridge was acting about Voldemort, he couldn't help but believe Harry. Surely he wouldn't lie about that so forcefully? Besides that, he saw the way he was when he came back, very shaken. It had to be true, Voldemort was coming back into power. Of course, it wasn't all bad, his fourth year. Derek did finally get the chance he had been dreaming about; he dated Ginny. It didn't last for very long, just a few weeks is all, but it was enough for him to know that he truly cared about the girl. Ginny, on the other hand, did not feel the same. She dated him to see how it would be with him, and though he treated her well, she couldn't bring herself to like him the way he liked her. She figured they were better off friends, and though it hurt Derek, he understood. He would rather be friends with her then nothing at all, so he went back to being one of the best friends she went to whenever she found out, over and over again, that Harry didn't return her feelings. The door above him tinkled as DJ walked out of the Three Broomsticks with Resonance at his side. He hadn't meant to be too forward by putting his hand on the small of her back, but he wasn't too much sure on how fast she would have gotten out of there otherwise. It was quite obvious she was willing to give Edward and Samantha time alone, but at the same time, he knew how girls were when they got to talking. He found it kind of comical though, the look Edward had given him as he was leaving the table. At that same precise time, Derek was giving him the same warning look. Each look had the same meaning underneath them 'you hurt her, you die'. It seemed Resonance and Edward had a very close relationship, as close as Samantha and Derek did, and he was very protective over his sister. But, Edward had nothing to worry about.
It was true Derek was a popular person, and seen, at times, as an attractive boy, but he was not like most males his age. When it came to girls, DJ had an unusually large soft spot. It wasn't just lust, either, he felt a need to protect girls, especially around those of a Slytherin house. While they're out sleeping around and getting girls drunk, he was out trying to talk them out of it and taking their drinks away. No, it didn't put him on the greatest sides with the male population, not just of Slytherin house, either, but he didn't give a shit. None of their opinions mattered to him. Of course, there were friends he made this way, too. Bigger brothers and cousins of girls he stopped from getting used greatly appreciated him helping out their relations when they weren't around.
Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't like Derek hadn't broken a few hearts himself. Generally, though, it was more because he didn't feel the same way the girl did, then he slept with her and then walked away. He may have been a virgin, but that didn't mean he hadn't done a little bit of kissing here and there. Then again, when he had, it had actually meant something to him, as mushy as that may sound. He was really a sweet guy, when you got down to it, and very few people, even girls, got to see that part, nor did they dig down far enough to even look. He wasn't much of a person that got attached to people, so his relations were few and far between. He was a boy, though, and had his needs, so every so often he would open himself up. Generally, of course, this ended up with him getting hurt.
Turning his head, his bright green eyes squinted in the sunlight. He hadn't quite realized how dark the Three Broomsticks had been...but, then again, it probably wasn't. The sun was shining unbearably bright today. Tilting his head in a questioning manner, he looked at Resonance. "Any place in mind?" His dark eyebrows raised, and he watched her closely. Personally, he thought he was going to be spending the full day with his best friend, talking about this Edward guy. He hadn't heard much about him, which is what he was looking forward to. But, hanging out with Resonance couldn't be too bad. Besides that, she had the 'scoop' on Edward, so to speak. It was only a question on if she would give it up. Walking slowly next to her, taking his time, he peeped over at her, a purely curious look on his face. "Your brother? He'll play nice, right?" His dark eyebrows raised again, and there was a flash in his emerald eyes that said 'if he doesn't, I'll kill him'. Face Claim:
